Are solvents safe to use?
As with many of the materials we use around the home or in the workplace, solvents are safe to use provided that guidelines set out within extended safety data sheets (eSDS’s) are followed.
Maintaining the highest levels of health, safety and environmental standards in the production and use of solvents is the highest priority. The solvents industry and its downstream users actively promote the safe and responsible use of solvents and through continuous improvement and the development of innovative new products.
Where do I find the hazard information for the products?
Section 2 of the product eSDS gives all hazard identification information such as hazard class, hazard category, hazard statement code and relevant pictogram.
What precautions do I need to take?
Section 7 of the eSDS details the handling and storage information as provided by the manufacturer. Section 7.1 contains precautions for safe handling and 7.2 shows the recommended storage conditions, including product incompatibilities.
Section 8 details exposure controls and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
