SIA Releases New Guidance on UK REACH and Alcohol-Based Sanitisers

The Technical Committee of the Solvents Industry Association has released new guidance relating to UK REACH and Alcohol-based Sanitisers.

Guidance Note 65 – Safe Handling and Use of Alcohol-based Sanitisers
During the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020-21, many countries saw a widespread increase in new entrants to the hygiene and sanitiser markets, some of which knew little of the Regulatory requirements of the handling, transportation, packaging and labelling of flammable liquids and, in many cases, the legislation surrounding dutiable ethanol.

This new Guidance Note attempts to assist companies in providing signposts to the appropriate legislation and guidance available, to prevent incident and potential injury from inappropriate handling.
The Guidance can be found via the link: SIA Guidance Notes

Guidance Note 66 – UK REACH Summary Document
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union on 1st January 2021, the UK Government has produced a wide range of documentation to support companies with the transition from EU REACH to UK REACH.
This new Guidance from the SIA attempts to collate into one document, the most relevant information for UK companies who may be affected by the changes.
